Electrolysis FAQ Electrolysis Waxing Home Unwanted Hair

A
few months ago I quoted a doctor about the number of women with excess hair.
“Hirsutism
is common
and
is estimated to
occur
in 1 in 20 women
of
reproductive age.”
-Herbert
P Goodheart, MD
In
my research for this newsletter I ran across estimations of women dealing with
excess hair as high as 8%.
Most
of you know that I did have extra hair, but I have never been hirsute.
Anyway, I was thinking, if 5-8% of women have unwanted hair, why do we
all feel so alone? Yesterday I went
to shopping but spent more time counting women.
In my trip into Target alone I counted 116 females; that means around 6
women that I encountered almost certainly had some sort of male-pattern hair.
Wow. Most of them probably
have not even told their closest friends. So,
do yourselves a favor (and possibly your friends) and talk about hair.
You will feel much better and hopefully the stigma will lessen.
Preventing
hair growth is not always possible. I
was talking to a client about her continued hair growth, as it was taking a bit
longer than usual to disappear permanently.
As it turns out, she is on a steroid for asthma, which causes new hair
growth almost constantly.
However,
most of us can make a few easy changes to help prevent hair growth and increase
our health at the same time.

Lately
I have been trying out a new topical anesthetic, and I think it is fabulous.
For those of you who get uncomfortable during treatments (both waxing and
electrolysis) you may want to try it out. It
is called PFB Numb-IT, ask about it at your next appointment.
“The average anchoring strength for a chest hair is 70 grams. That is, you can add 70 grams of weight to one chest hair before it breaks.”
